A "New Game" will start everything from scratch; story, side quests and progress.

Difficulty level

When selecting New Game the options are

• Easy
• Normal
• Hard
• Ex-Hard (LOCKED - opens after completing the game for the first time)

!NB - There are trophies attached to the Normal and Ex-Hard modes so the Easy option should only be used if you have never played a Ryuu Ga Gotoku game before.

Levelling Up

! NB In previous games the player was left to level up abilities under their own volition. This game gives you the option to let the system automatically level the characters up once they have gained enough XP.

Previous game save rewards

If the game finds save files for previous games on your system then you will get certain items as a reward. You will only recieve them if you have the Japanese versions of the games not the "Yakuza" branded ones.

• 札束の御守り Cash Charm - 龍が如く4 save file
• 銀玉鉄砲 Silver Bullet Gun - 龍が如く OF THE END save file
• 錦鯉の御守り Coloured Carp Amulet - 龍が如く1 HD EDITION save file
• 黄龍のサラシ Yellow Dragon Binding - 龍が如く2 HD EDITION save file

Starting State / Items

Kiryuu starts with 30,000 yen.
