Purikuru プリクル is short for プリント クラブ Purinto Kurabu (Print Club).

It has a couple of variations in spelling:

  • プリクル Purikuru
  • プリクラ Purikura
  • プリサークル Purisaakuru (Which is short for Print Circle)

Purikura was a phenomnenon in Japan in the 1990's and early 2000's. It is basically a photo booth machine with post processing abilities on it. Predominantly young females go in in pairs then add phrases and girly paraphanalia to the photos before having them printed out. Some arcades in Japan prohibit males to use them unless accompanied by a female to stop predators. According to wikipedia, the name Purikura → derives from Purinto Kurabu (プリント倶楽部), the name of the machines.

How To Play

One set of photos costs 400 yen.

The person entering can have 3 pictures taken.

The character has to be in full pose when the picture is taken. A countdown from 3 occurs before each photo so that the player can prepare a pose. The time taken to conduct a pose are different for each character. See the commands below for timing help. The character can have pictures taken with other people such as hostesses. If a pose is successful then it will appear with pink sparkles around it. Choose the best photo so it can be put in the プリクル帳 Purikura Photo Booklet .

  • 撮る - Take pictures
  • 一緒に撮影する人を呼ぶ - Call a friend (ほのか Honoka)
  • 撮らない - Don't take pictures

Kiryuu Pose commands

  • 口 - 1.5 seconds to pose
  • △ - 3 seconds to pose
  • ◯ - 1 seconds to pose Ni-Asagi cheezu
  • X - 2 seconds to pose

Saejima Pose commands

  • 口 - 2 and 0 seconds to pose
  • △ - 2.5 seconds to pose
  • ◯ - 0.5 seconds to pose
  • X - 1.75 seconds to pose

Haruka Pose commands

  • 口 - 2.2 seconds to pose
  • △ - 1.6 seconds to pose
  • ◯ - 0.8 seconds to pose
  • X - 1.25 seconds to pose

Akiyama Pose commands

  • 口 - 2 seconds to pose
  • △ - 2 seconds to pose
  • ◯ - 0.8 seconds to pose
  • X - 1.5 seconds to pose

Shinada Pose commands

  • 口 - Pose at 2.2 seconds
  • △ - Pose at 2.2 seconds
  • ◯ - Pose at 0.75 seconds
  • X - Pose at 1.0 seconds

Each character has 4 poses which make up part of the Minigames Completion List.

NB If you are playing this on a non-Japanese PS3 then be aware that the completion for the X and ◯will be reversed so if it says you still need X it actually means ◯.
