Taiga is saved from freezing in the snow by Okudera. Okudera teaches him to survive in the snow. Okudera is a hunter that doesn't get on with other inhabitants in the area. There was an incident 9 years ago.

Missions

Most of the missions will be started by talking to one of the villagers and then talking to whoever is in the hut. See each mission for details.

Status Report Card

When Saejima starts the mission he gets to see the Status Report Card which will allow him to see his current Equipment, Gear, Weapons and Skills; and Confirm Equipment button:

Skills スキル

  • 雪面歩行 Snow surface walk - Increases moving speed in the snow
  • 耐寒防御 Cold Defence - Saejima is more resilient to losing health through snow
  • 観察能力 Observation Abilities - Animals will be displayed on the minimap
  • 気配抑制 Presence Control - Saejima is in camoflage mode squatting nearer to animals
  • 猟銃取扱 Rifle Handling - Gun shake is reduced
  • 免許皆伝 Complete Mastery - More resilience to cold and less gun shake

Buttons

  • 装備確認画面へ (Equipment Confirmation Screen) 準備完了 (Preparation Complete).


Weapons

! NB Saejima starts with a two shot, shotgun so he has to be careful. If he tries to shoot repeatedly too quickly he will suffer from the gips.

  • 質素な防寒着 - Basic Snowwear
  • 奥寺特製防寒着 - Okudera's Special Snowwear


Load Up Screen

When Saejima selects to do a mission then his report card comes up:
  • At the top it has the Main Mission name
  • On the right hand side is the Contract Missions
  • At the bottom are two buttons
  • The left one is the Load Up screen which transfers traps and other goodies into Saejima's hunting bag
  • The right hand button starts the next mission
Once Saejima has Loaded Up and pressed "Start" then Okudera or Sakurai has the following menu:
  • 雪山に入る - Enter the Snowy Mountain area
  • もう一度アイテム整理する - Load Up one more time
  • 状況確認 - View Status Report Card
  • やっぱりやめる - Exit

On the Mountain

! Hunting in the cold weather is exhausting and will reduce Saejima's stamina. Make sure Saejima eats enough or rests in the huts.

Traps

Saejima can catch smaller animals in traps he sets.

Saejima can buy traps from the Village Vendor or get given them in certain missions or get them as rewards.

When Saejima is out in the wilderness and passes a trap setting then he can set a trap if he has them in his inventory.

Traps can get broken and need fixing. When they are needed then the following menu appears
  • 回収する - Recover (take items?)
  • ??する (改修 Repair /
  • やめる - Exit

Huts

Saejima can use the local hunting tribes' Matagi huts for shelter. If a hut is in disrepair then he can fix it, if he has the relevant repair item. The repair items can be bought at the Village Vendor .

Main Missions Completion

At the end of the main missions Saejima gets a Result Card which displays the time taken and lists of spoils.

Load Out Screen

At the end of missions Saejima gets the option to transfer items
  • すべてアイテムボックスにに移す - Transfer all the items
  • 所持品に移すものを選ぶ - Transfer individual items
